This Monday I joined my friend chef Leo of Red Rooster Harlem and sat in with the Congolese band at his fundraiser for the Panzi Foundation. The Panzi Foundation provides hospital care and sexual reproductive health access for women in the Democratic Republic of The Congo. I met Leo when he was coincidentally at my show in London at The Curtain Hotel opening Red Rooster there earlier this summer. His passion for giving back, women’s equality and building a bright future for his own daughter resonated with me deeply.

HEALING SANCTUARY

In 1999, Dr. Denis Mukwege founded the Panzi Hospital in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The region has been devastated by war and an epidemic of sexualized violence for twenty years. Today, the Panzi Hospital serves more than 400,000 constituents in the Ibanda Health Zone.  The US based Panzi Foundation makes strategic investments at Panzi Hospital and Panzi Foundation DRC. We develop and engage in strategic advocacy to end violence against women and girls in the DRC and around the world.
