My Irish grandmother, Ellen McCarthy, turned 75 today. She married my Indian grandfather over 50 years ago and broke all the rules by sailing to India, learning Hindi and living there for later part of her life. This weekend, we all reunited in Ireland to celebrate her 75th in a countryside town near Dublin, with my grandmother’s friends who knew her since she was 4.
