Madame Gandhi takes over billboard in downtown Boston for For Freedoms #AAPISolidarity billboard campaign

To celebrate #AAPIHeritageMonth, Madame Gandhi joins For Freedoms’ new nationwide billboard campaign in partnership with Orange Barrel Media.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

When asked to create a piece that combats Asian hate, the first thing that came to mind was asking the bigger question, “Why does anyone hate to begin with?” When reflecting on this, I thought about how we need more love, more kindness, more empathy, more compassion and more care. So often in our day to day lives, we are consumed by the daily grind and immediate tasks at hand on our to-do list. So what if instead, we were reminded on a daily basis of the higher vibrational qualities that we should all aspire to have. To that end, I partnered with my graphic designer to create not a to-do list, but a “To Be” list post-it note in my signature Madame Gandhi yellow.
