According to the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, only two percent of producers with songs on the charts are womxn. Earlier this year, I along with a group of brilliant female and gender non-conforming producers and engineers, joined Spotify’s EQL Residency in studio for a one-of-a-kind collaboration experience. My new track “Freedom” is inspired by these womxn and our shared vision of a future that is collaborative, free, and female.
In order to continue to cultivate such a future, we must celebrate and support the notion of intersectionality, of trans liberation, of femininity, and of the ability to control our own narrative. Because if we don’t tell our own stories, somebody else will tell our stories for us and get it wrong. Listen to “Freedom” on Spotify now.
