Kimbra invited me, Mirah, Anna Wise, Olga Bell, Sara Lucas, Katy Mohanty, Alissia Benveniste and Tif Lamson to collaborate on a unique improvised performance. The Hum brings 4-5 women who have never played together to collaborate in an improvised performance for the audience.
Kimbra explained it as “what happens when you invite people into a space usually used for songwriting, a space where musicians of the highest calibre dive into a creative freedom and spontaneously respond to grooves or melodies they’ve never heard before in front of people they don’t know? What happens when you bring people into a space of abandoned exploration without judgement?” Those questions were at the heart of the event and what made it so special.
